I nicked this photo in here and tantalizingly, no info on these personnel could be found but one can guess. The guitar man with an ingenuous smile must be Donovan. The fro dude in sunglasses would be Mick Farren. I’m not 100% sure. Any psych pundit to put me wise to that ?

The Deviants fame Mick Farren talks about Speed (drug) through the mediation of VICE; Speedy Move.

Sic Alps Speeds

I don’t think this song is about the abovementioned Speed (high on the speeds?), but anyway it’s my favourite Sic Alps.

There’s a great interview of Mick Farren on Bob Bert’s BB Gun site. In it, Mick Farren reminisces about his new york days – playing music in a band with Johnny Thunders, etc -,  egged on by Byron Coley.

Best bit:

Byron Coley: What’s the deal on yr mention of Richard Hell in Anarchist? You seem to be dismissive of him primarily because he has a big dick.

Mick Farren: I quite like what Richard does. It’s not a million miles from what I do, but I just don’t think he works hard enough. Plus he has a big dick. Richard is actually very charming, when he wants to be. But when the word goes out in our hedonist culture, as it did on the Lower East Side in 1978, that he’s got the biggest dick in town, he really doesn’t have to cultivate much charm. I feel the same about his poetry. But then I feel the same way about a lot of people’s poetry — people don’t really work hard enough these days.

This link (if it works) is also Charles Sharr Murray. If the link doesn’t work then it’s on the same page as the one above (Felix Dennis) and it’s Charles talking to David Bowie (probably for NME, or if not then another Magazine)

Thanks for the correction, Fee Mercury Moon. BTW, it’s embarrassing to revisit my old post; the older a post is, the more grammatically challenged it is. But I appreciate your comments all the same 🙂
